.. Du BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME en plus « Death à growls et gros riffs », ou à l’inverse du NECROPHAGIST en plus « core » et avec moins de tapping/sweeping et autres branlettes de manches. Je pense même à du BLACK CROWN INITIATE en moins moderne et « américain ». Ceci pour un album de 13 titres et 63 minutes pas facile à aborder mais qui ne fera pas peur à tous les amateurs des groupes de Death technique cités plus haut. RETRACE MY FRAGMENTS fait donc son entrée dans ce petit monde de musiciens chevronnés grâce à un beau concept et un bon album, pour un groupe un peu foufou sur les bords, ce qui est presque obligatoire pour pratiquer un genre si bavard musicalement.

… Les indécrottables amateurs de tous les groupes qui triturent le Death-Metal à l’aide de technique et de progressivité pourront trouver ce groupe excellent dans son registre, ou alors trouver qu’il n’apporte vraiment rien de neuf, quoi qu’il en soit il y a ici un gros potentiel et si Ethereal Flux n’est pas une réussite totale, il possède déjà de belles qualités surtout pour un groupe qui sort son premier full-length en autoproduction (tout en recherchant un label, au passage, je fais un appel), avec un beau concept en sus. Qui n’a pas été entièrement marié à la musique mais pour la forme et pour les compositions, Ethereal Flux est un très bon album et en attendant de savoir si RETRACE MY FRAGMENTS pourra devenir un groupe singulier de Death technico-progressif, espérons que ce genre d’album peut servir de locomotive à la scène luxembourgeoise qui possède quelques formations très intéressantes.

Retrace My Fragments - ETHEREAL FLUX - Album Review

If there is one band that has never shied away from reinventing themselves or challenging the conventions of their own music, it’s Retrace My Fragments. Their debut album ‘Ethereal Flux'takes on board 101% originality; something that lacks in a vast swathe of modern Death Metal bands, lashing together an awe-inspiring science fiction story (split into chapters) conceived by vocalist Antonio Martija and bringing it to life through a dramatic-yet-theatrical production of brutal vocals, eerie riffs, apocalyptic drumming and an atmosphere so expansive, it makes a black-hole claustrophobic. 'Ethereal Flux’ is the finest release by this Luxembourg quintet and should garner some international attention, why these guys are not signed is astounding, however with this album the labels cannot ignore them much longer. Retrace My Fragments are flying the flag for the Luxembourg Metal scene.
